The Copperas Hill site was acquired by Liverpool John Moores University in 2011. The former Royal Mail sorting office is a classic 1970s building and sits on a prime city centre site behind Lime Street station.
In 2013, the University announced plans to redevelop the site as part of a vision to develop a connected campus by locating all students and staff in the city centre. Copperas Hill will be the heart of the University and a front door to the Knowledge Quarter of the city. It will be pivotal in the regeneration of the area surrounding Lime Street resulting in the creation of improved streetscapes, upgraded highways, landscaping and new open spaces. This even provided an opportunity to hear from the client and design team about their innovative plans and was followed by visit to this historic site.
